Andrew D. Bennett
Andrew D. Bennett, B.S., CADC II is a former Program Director for the La Posta Substance Abuse Center, a division of Southern Indian Health Council, Alpine, California. He has had full-time employment in the Chemical Dependency Treatment/Employee Assistance Program field since 1977. He received his Baccalaureate in Human Services from the State University of New York, Empire State College. He developed the Outpatient Treatment Program for the Cortland County Mental Health Center in Cortland, New York. As a result of this work, he was awarded a New York State Department of Mental Health Scholarship to attend the internationally renowned Rutgers University Summer School of Alcohol Studies, clinical tract. His training also includes the Clear brook Residential Internship, Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, and the Professional in Residence Program at the Betty Ford Center, Rancho Mirage, California, where he also served as a guest group facilitator and lecturer. His experience as an adult and adolescent Chemical Dependency Counselor include former positions as: Family Therapist for Alvarado Parkway Institute, La Mesa, California; Chemical Dependency Coordinator/Counselor for Broad Horizons Adolescent Residential Treatment Center, Ramona, California; Chemical Dependency Counselor, Aurora Behavioral Health Care, San Diego and Program Director of Counselor’s Recovery Group, a division of the East County Physicians Medical Group, a 500-member I.P.A. in La Mesa, California. Additionally, Andy formerly served as an Employee Counseling Representative for Hughes Aircraft Company, Corporate Division, El Segundo, California, as well as a hospital consultant for addictive disease programs.
Andy is currently employed as the Counseling Supervisor for Volunteers of America Residential Multi Services Center.
Andy is a published author whose work appears in Behavioral Health Management, 1992 14(2), Addiction Professional 2011 March-April 9(2):30-33, the Conference papers of the Twentieth and Twenty-Fifth Annual Conferences on Addiction Treatment. He is a frequent contributor to state and national conferences, including the California Association of Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselors Annual Conference and Meeting: ’87,’95,’97,’98,’00, the Nebraska Association of Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselors,’96, the Twentieth Annual Conference on Addiction Treatment, Minneapolis, Minnesota, 1996, and the Twenty-Fifth Annual Conference on Addiction Treatment, Portland, Oregon, 2001.
Andy is certified by the California Association of Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Counselors. He is a recipient of the Eagle Feather for contributions to Native American Recovery. Andy is listed by invitation in Marquis Who’s Who in Medicine and Healthcare, 5th Edition (2004- 2005).
